Historic Florida Lakefront
Opera Gala Guild Designer's Showcase
Location: Winter Park
The 6,200-square foot Holt-Mumby House was built in
1922 and acquired in 1932 by Rollins College. It had
served as a home for the college’s president,
as well as a residence hall, sorority house, museum
of art and chancellor’s office. The 2-story, lakefront
home featured expansive verandahs, a gazebo and pool
area. The designer’s challenge was to take this
2nd floor vast space with a low ceiling and create a
master bedroom/sitting room suite. Wrapping the wall
with an angle of sheer drapery where the bed was placed
and adding zoological and far Eastern touches gave it
a Eurasian ambiance.

Opera Gala Guild Designer's Showcase
Location: Orlando
For this Opera Gala Showhouse, the
Carolyn Franklin team was inspired by the style of
artist Botera. "The Picnic" inspiration
provided the impetus for the design.
Saturated
color; red, yellow, and green with rusticated furnishings
evokes the sense of warmth, comfort, and fun. The
challenge was that the breakfast room was a passageway
- the design "made you look" and expanded
your vision.
